The festive season is fast approaching, and not long now until Acocks Green Village is lit up by Christmas Lights.  On Saturday 17th November is the big Switch On but also there will be a Farmers Market and Arts & Crafts Fair of local handmade gifts. The Farmers Market takes place on the third Saturday of every month on the service road on Warwick Road, opposite Holy Souls Church.  Come along and support our village and enjoy some delicious local treats.

November’s Market (17th Nov), will be a special Christmas Extravaganza and include the Christmas Lights Switch On.  Also local craft people are invited to rent a stall at a special rate.  If you are interested then contact the Business Improvement Manager – Sandy Gianni on 0121 706 7581.  Or email: agvbidinfo@gmail.com

Acocks Green village will be the place to be on Saturday 16th June when the Farmer’s Market comes to town. As well as activities for kids and stalls loaded with tempting fresh products,we are honoured to have King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys entertaining the shoppers: ’the finest, most authentic Rhythm & Blues band ever to come from outside the USA’.  Thanks go to the Business Improvement District (BID) Manager, Sandy Gianni, who has made this day happen. The Farmers Market will be a regular monthly event, so mark it on your calendar and make sure your friends and family know about the exciting developments going on in our village.

As well as over 50 stalls (including Acocks Green Neighbourhood Forum’s stall), Youth Stage, Bird & Flower Show, Football Tournament & Fun Fair there’s lots to watch in the main arena – see below for the running times:

Don’t forget that this Saturday 2nd July,  is the community get-together at Westley Road Recreation Ground – the Annual Acocks Green Carnival.  It will be open from 12 noon and the parade will travel through the village from Archbishop Ilsleys, Victoria Rd   to the  recreation ground.

There will be displays, rides, shows, refreshments and much more. Also there will be plenty of  opportunities  to find out more about Acocks Green and some of the organisations that are connected to the area.  The Neighbourhood Forum will  also be holding a stall,  promoting the Forum and selling some interesting plants to raise funds.  So why not come along for an entertaining afternoon.

Acocks Green’s Community Event of the Year is busy being planned.  Every year the Carnival offers a wide variety of local groups the opportunity to come together in one place to stage a great family event with entertainment, activities, lots of stalls and refreshments.  Below is all the information about the Carnival and how you can get involved or promote it to anyone who may be interested. The procession through Acocks Green Village has the theme Super Heroes this year, leaving from Archbishop Ilsleys, Victoria Rd at 1pm and arriving at the site, on Westley Road recreation ground, at around 1.30pm.

Acocks Green Carnival has been taking place for over 30 years.  As is the tradition it is on the first Saturday of July at Westley Road Recreation Ground.  

Its always a lively and fun day starting with a parade of floats, bands and representatives from local groups.  The theme for the parade this year is Science Fact and Fiction.

If your organisation would like to take part in the Parade, either on a vehicle or on foot, entry forms are available from Fox Hollies Forum or click here.  Closing date is 1st June.  And there are prizes for the best entry. Carnival Stewards are also required to escort the procession from Archbishop Ilsleys, Victoria Road to the Recreation Ground, perhaps you would like to help?  

Other ways to get involved are:
