A brief postscript to the event
The “Fun Dog Day” organised by the Westley Vale Millennium Green Trust, was held on Saturday 1st August, and achieved its aims despite the wet and unseasonal weather.
An excellent number of local dog owners and visiters attended the event and entered into the spirit of the occassion and the competition which was administered by Denise Boardman and the charity DogWatch UK.
School children from our local Cottesbrook School, also supported the occassion by entering a competition of their drawings and sketches of dogs of all types and breeds, which all went on show in the marquee.
The day was equally supported by the stoicism of the stall holders and the commendable organisation of the Westley Vale Millennium Green Trustees, but as reported previousl, somewhat spoilt by the poor weather conditions.
The awards were presented by our local MP John Hemming who also had the opportunity to meet with and speak to a number of the local residents and organisers. Local Councillor Penny Wagg was also able to attend.
Despite spells of very heavy rain this outdoor event went ahead and proved to be an opportunity for the local community to come together and supported by the local police team was a positive achievment.
Well done to all concerned
