Acocks Green Library – The Latest ***Updated ****REOPENS Tues 4th March

Our councillor John O’Shea told us at the Public Meeting last night that they hoped the building would be back in council control on 19th February and then it would take about 10 days to restock and reorder it for reopening.

Make the most of Acocks Green library this month as the long-awaited roof repairs are scheduled to commence at the end of the month and the library will therefore be closed from Tuesday 27th August for around 12 weeks.

South Yardley library will have extended opening hours from the beginning of September to compensate for the closure.

John O’Shea, our local councillor give more information on his website:

All groups that currently use the library will be temporarily relocated and any books out on loan can be returned to any other library. South Yardley Library will start extended opening hours from the 2 September. If you can’t get the books back to other libraries, don’t worry – no fines will be incurred if you wait until Acocks Green reopens.

In the meantime there are LOTS of new books to browse through and borrow including latest fiction and non-fiction books.
Also, as its the school holidays there is a summer reading challenge for kids called Creepy House, dare you enter?!  For more information click here:

There is also a prize drawer to enter, with a chance to win tickets for Disney on Ice at the NIA in Birmingham. So get yourself down to the library soon. Remember AG library is closed on Fridays (and Sundays).

Also available at the library at the moment is the full Adult Education Programme is available to pick up. This lists all of the Adult Education courses run by Birmingham City Council, including those held at Acocks Green’s Adult Education Centre – Stone Hall.
