Swansong Concert this Tuesday at St Marys

Come along to the historic Church of St Marys, Warwick Road, on Tuesday (24th June) for a musical evening featuring classically trained musicians – Sally Minchin (violin) and Rich Hughes (piano). The evening promises music to suit all tastes, from classical to jazz and there will be an interval where tea and coffee with be served. There is a collection at the end. Everyone is very welcome. The concert starts at 7.30pm

The Burne Jones Stained Glass Window.

The church also boasts a beautiful stained glass window by Pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burne Jones, so hopefully the evening sunshine will be illuminating the window for full effect at the concert.

Hello Ken. Swansong was really good last night. I took photos and recorded some excerpts I may try and upload at some point. The concert featured such variety from Greig to Cole Porter, a lovely selection. The next concert is on Tues 16th September – Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and other Italian masterpieces. I will hopefully find out more nearer the time.
For the concerts to continue they need to reach new audiences, although there was about 60 people there last night.

Hi – have you got a contact email for notifications about Swansong events? I note that Brum Council still list Acocks Green Library but I suspect this is no longer the case. Thanks, Ken.

      Hello Ken
Yes the concerts now take place at St Marys Church, a few times a year, but not on a regular basis. We always list them on our What’s On Page and Acocks Green Library promote the date of the next event.
      Kind Regards
