Keep The Green Clean!

After a particularly busy litter-picking session this winter the Village in Bloom Team came up with the idea of working with local schools to organise a Local Anti-Litter Campaign. They put their heads together and decided on the catchy slogan ‘Keep the Green Clean’! One of the volunteers had actually written a song with this title when working with a local school many years ago.  (The song will hopefully be making a comeback soon too!). They have also had a pin badge made carrying the slogan which they are giving out to volunteers who help with litter-picking.

The Bloom co-ordinator, Fran, contacted Acocks Green Primary School, Cedars Academy and Robin Hood Academy and the children produced an array of delightful posters which were inspiring, colourful and creative. Thanks to the schools and 115 children who took part. It has really highlighted the importance of keeping your neighbourhood clean for the sake of the environment and to show respect and pride in our area.  Here is a selection of posters from all three schools:

This poster campaign launches our local contribution to the Great British Spring Clean which is a national campaign organised by Keep Britain Tidy. There will be local litter-picks in our area which everyone is invited to join in with. More information to follow shortly. If you want to be an individual Local Litter Champion we can supply a litter-picking stick and stock of council grey bags just Contact Us.
